Core collaboration
Josiah Boornazian Group feat. Aleks Fadini brings together saxophonist and composer Josiah Boornazian; pianist and composer Aleks Fadini; bassist, composer, and producer Andrew Bergmann; and Austin-based drummer Matt Carr.
Built around original compositions, including Josiah Boornazian's Silver and Aleks Fadini's Starlight Heartbeat, the project expands a shared acoustic-jazz foundation with bass and saxophone effects, rock and drum-and-bass energy, open improvisation, and straight-ahead language. The residency includes a confirmed UIW recording session and masterclass on November 13, alongside public performances.

Josiah Boornazian
University of Utah · US
Yamaha Performing Artist and Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Utah. A Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Miami, Boornazian is recognized as an inventive composer and a torrid post-bop player who seamlessly integrates electronic music under his alias "tymebrayker".

Aleks Fadini
Texas A&M University · US
Pianist and composer who spent over a decade in the New York jazz scene under the mentorship of Marc Copland and Ray Anderson. Currently Assistant Professor of Music Performance at Texas A&M University, where his research focuses on immersive pedagogy and the intersection of acoustic and digital sound.

Andrew Bergmann
University of the Incarnate Word · San Antonio
Bassist, composer, producer, and Assistant Professor at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio. His original jazz group Sued Nandayapa Bergmann Saunders records for Ropeadope Sur, while his own projects include the orchestral work 45 Minutes for 128 Musicians. He has recorded with Cory Wong, Azul Barrientos, Aaron Prado, and Viatorum, and oversees UIW's Broadway Bird Records.

Matt Carr
Austin · Canopus Drums Endorser
Matt Carr is an Austin-based drummer, educator, and producer, and an active voice in the city's jazz scene. A former University of Washington teaching assistant, he has performed at Monks Jazz Club with artists including Andre Hayward, Collin Shook, Tommy Howard, Andy Langham, and Sam Pankey. Matt endorses Canopus Drums.
